Timothy J. Henck Memorial Field was the stage for the Sayville Golden Flashes hosting Kings Park in girls varsity flag football with a trip to the Suffolk County Title game on the line.

It was Monday Night Football on Greeley Avenue as the League III adversaries grappled on the gridiron—the victor to be awarded a chance to compete in the Suffolk Championship game on Friday.

The Golden Flashes came into the melee 10-0 and the Lady Kingsmen sported a 5-5 record.

On Sayville’s first possession of the game, they got on the board after Olivia Moynihan lofted a touchdown toss in the back of the end zone on fourth down and four, which was nabbed by Ava Vadyak 1:55 into the game and Sayville had an early 6-0 lead.

About five minutes later, Lindsay Dimenna ushered her way into the end zone for a three-yard rushing touchdown and Sayville led by a dozen.

On the defensive side of the ball, Dimenna perpetuated her dominance with an interception. Dimenna’s prolonging dominance never ceased as she seized a laser from Moynihan for another 6 points with 11:37 to go till halftime.

Ella Trama converted the extra point, increasing the lead to 19. With 8:12 to go, Ella Trama put more points on the board scoring a two-yard touchdown run and it was 25-0 Sayville.

On 4th and 4, the duo of Moynihan and Dimenna were at it again when Dimenna reeled in a four-yard Moynihan pass with just under three minutes left in the first half, ensued again by Dimenna rushing the football to score the extra point and it was 32-0.

With 2:22 left in the half, Trinity Ricevuto made an interception to preserve the shutout and the 32-point drubbing was upheld at halftime. In the second half, Kingsman wide receiver Gianna Zawol scored a rushing touchdown and the PAT (point after touchdown) was good, and it was 32-7.

Later in the half, Zawol scored on a 60-yard touchdown run and following the extra point, Kings Park had 14 points.

With five minutes and seven seconds to go in the ballgame, Aniello Marino threw a strike to Faith Cummings for a seven-yard Sayville score and the Golden Flashes added to their lead.

The final score was Sayville 38, Kings Park 20. Sayville will play Hauppauge to determine the Suffolk County League III Champion Friday at 4 p.m. at Sachem North High School.
