Petty Officer 2nd Class Tyler Ryan, a native of Islip Terrace, serves the U.S. Navy at Marine Corps Security Force Battalion (MCSFB) Bangor. Ryan is a 2012 graduate of East Islip High School. The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Islip Terrace. “My parents’ work ethic had a huge impact on my life because they taught me how to work hard from a young age,” said Ryan. “Having a strong work ethic definitely made my transition to the military easier.”
