Connetquot School District honored fifth and eighth graders at moving up ceremonies into the middle school and high school, respectively, in late June.

At Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School, the ceremony consisted of “heartfelt speeches and songs, reminiscing on the positive and unforgettable experiences of students’ time in the middle schools,” according to a representative of the district.

During the ceremony, held at Connetquot High School, students also received special awards, recognizing their accomplishments in various subjects throughout the year. At the end, students walked across the stage to receive their certificates, marking their official next chapter of becoming high school students.

For graduating fifth graders at Edward J. Bosti, Cherokee Street,
Helen B. Duffield, Idle Hour, John Pearl, Edith L. Slocum and Sycamore Avenue elementary schools, students received special awards, recognizing excellence throughout the year in academic subjects, music and arts, health and physical education, among other disciplines.
